The ISTE Conference: Unlocking Potential will be held in Philadelphia this weekend. It will be worth following #iste11 on Twitter. I am facilitating the presentation of Generation Safe™ in an ISTE Session with Marsali Hancock (CEO of IKeepSafe US) and David Wright from the South West Grid for Learning UK. It is a hands-on opportunity for principals and teachers to experience this unique system of interactive online tools designed to integrate digital technology into existing whole school initiatives in any community or country. Because student experiences online affect school climate, Generation Safe™ teaches schools how to build their own network of support for all stakeholders in their digital environment—administrators, teachers, school counselors, network administrators, technology and media specialists, public health and medical professionals (e.g., school nurse), resource officers, parents and students. Generation Safe™ promotes prevention, detection, bystander awareness, intervention and reporting of digital incidents. The school learns how to engage the best stakeholders on site and in their community to increase positive outcomes in any cyber situation and to minimize civil and criminal litigation.
